I thought I heard somewhere that true Islam doesn't allow any musical instruments other than percussion. So how is Cat Stevens able to play the guitar without being reprimanded by his religious leaders?

thsi arguement is debated between Ulima (Scholars) there are a few different opinions. some which ban music out right, some which only allow percussion. some with allow only the human voice - and some which allow all types of music - as long as there is an islamic meaning behind the song.
