I've read that Porsche is aiming to go with V8 power in a future 911. Not sure how good the source is, but that is what I read. Honestly, it would be sad to see the flat-6 go, such a great sound and indeed legendary.

I believe they are close to perfection with this motor and chassis now. A v8 would only add weight which is not good on a rear engine car. She is beautiful for sure. I would trade my z06 in an instant for that beauty.

I totally agree, it's a masterpiece. Can't remember exactly what I read about Porsche cramming a V8 into a future 911. Perhaps it will be a flat-8. And yes the weight would be an issue in a rear engined car like the 911... can you say pendulum? However, if Porsche were to use 8 cylinders I'm sure it would be a lightweight unit, and by God they better not put the engine up front. The rear engine layout of the 911 is what makes it a 911!
