After watching BBC America frequently I can see what you mean. The US version is very exaggerated but still fun to watch nonetheless. Its not like we don't like upbeat television. I love Top Gear and F-word. Its just that the people who run TV over here have no original ideas so everything has to be "extreme" and fake reality-tv crap.
