As long as you have a Wii you can do this.
I your Wii isn't modded with Homebrew Channel yet, you will need to find a tutorial on how to do that.
If you already have a Homebrew Wii, then simply follow the steps in the video.

I know what you mean, I have adleast 7 in my house including my Wii now. The whole reason I did this mod to my Wii was this COULD lead to the Wii reading backup games without a modchip.
Progressive Scan, if you are talking about it remembering the playback position of a disc then no. That feature MIGHT be in the future.

[x]DvdX and MPlayer does not ruin the hardware, who ever you heard that from is shit, plus I've been running it for over a month now... no problem at all. Although it can't play Blu-Ray, it's still a free DVD player (Kinda low quality, not as good as the "new" ones) But hey... it's free :)
