Well, first of all, I think that crying on TV is more like playing to people's emotions than simply telling the truth.
Second, of course he has to speak generally. This is the USA, not some podunk country. We are talking about MILLIONS of people from diverse backgrounds. How could he address everyone's individual needs??? He has to be sensible, and appeal to the masses. He's running for President, not Mayor.
