A rather simple trick. These performers do an okay job of it. It isn't strings. Think of another way. I won't give it away for you.

simply mesmerising. Efforts are needed to preserve this almost extinct art.

You'd be surprised (maybe not) how many people think that the rope's support *has* to be coming from above.

if u watch other videos of this, many professional magicians confess that they do not understand this magic, it is common for human psychology to con itself into believing that it knows when it encounters something unusual, remember NO professional magician has ever claimed that they can perform it, that's why only indians are doing it all the time
very funny.. ... ( 2 months ago by BoredNL)
very funny.. Notice how they don't show the top of the rope when it's up all the way? Someone is above in a tree. Fishing line is tied to the rope, the rope is pulled up, then the person holding the rope lashes it around a branch a few times and holds it.. It's easy enough to hold a kid's weight this way.. Try having the man climb the rope though, lol.
I think this "rope" ... ( 2 months ago by fp00n)
I think this "rope" is actually hollow, that inside is a pole inserted from someone underground below the box. Someone is up in a tree and uses a fishing line like you said to grab the top of the "rope" and continue to pull it upward, giving the impression that it continues to rise, although the pole has stopped rising. When he yells "yah!" the guy in the tree and the guy (or maybe guys) underground let go of the "rope" and the pole. Maybe?

Why is it necessary to bring a pole into the equation?
because you'll ... ( 2 months ago by fp00n)
because you'll notice the "rope" is too stiff. If they did what you said they are doing, the rope would still sway, so I think there must be something of harder substance inside. How else could it be so stiff in one moment, and then be totally limp in the end?
Magic tricks are ... ( 2 months ago by BoredNL)
Magic tricks are all about misdirection. The assumption is that the rope is holding itself up straight by it's own "hardness," so the rope actually seems to look "hard." However, just tie a rope to a tree and to the ground and I assure you it will look much the same way. The rope DOES sway, but notice the man holding it steady? He's looking up at the child to guide your attention there and his hands holding the rope only appear briefly in the video.
