I am sorry but your are on the wrong track.This song was made around the time when 'waif like stick insects' were seen as attractive.Nothing to do with runaways or abuse victims.This song is about inner beauty and having confidence in yourself no matter what you look like.Vuluptios or skinny i.e Beauty is not just skin deep.But you must admit it is a fantastic song ?

i love this song.i also love "never tear us apart","mistify", "by my side", stuff like that.u know i just listened to the lyrics. "running from a bad home...". maybe ur right, but anyway maybe for abused girls it is far more difficult to develop a feeling of self confidence or inner beauty. anyway, cheers

well the video kinda pulls toward anorexia. i'll grant that. though the song seems to be a story about a man wanting to help a girl who can only help herself. whatever the case, it's a beautiful song.

Think neither the song or the lyrics synchronize with the video, except for perhaps the phrase 'beautiful girl'...I think that the video director based the entire video on that phrase, taking it off to a diferent tangent--one involving anorexia and silicon implants--steps taken by women to be 'liked' or 'appreciated' in a anity-driven socitey
