you cant have had a teacher for 23 yrs, ( unless you pay him way to much) and think that is good.

this is nothing against you personal, but if youre playing for 23 years now, you should give up guitar playing ;)
i also can only tell: start slow, and make it sound clean. you should watch rock discipline , it is one of the best guitar lessons out there.
