Ace's playing was simple, yet brilliant at the same time. I have heard so much worse from far more advanced players. Ace's playing always "fit" the song, which many guitar players don't do; anything more and it's just showing off.

I gotcha . I am a guitarist, too. I am just saying that all the technical ability is for nothing if it doesn't go with a song. I'd rather listen to an Ace solo another guitar God who just plays as fast and meaningless as possible. And there are many of those.

Let's put it this way: Ace was brilliant in the "context" of a band. IMO, a player like Steve Vai is not. Yet, Steve can blow most players out of the water because he has the technical ability to do so. Two other players that are great in a band context? CC Deville and Mick Mars. Two players that, like Ace, get labeled as a crappy guitar player. Ok that is my last post on here. I'm out.

Totally agree with you ... is not the same thing a guy like ynvie malmsteen playing in a sobrenatral way that a guy who is a part of a band write songs and make riff and solos for songs of a band mate the all exppirience is diferent... thats the reason i prefer a guy like ace or glenn tipton than ynvie or batio
