Differential hardening is a bitch to pull off properly. I make knives and i've even made a wakazashi from orishagane and it's difficult to do. I've talked to several japanese smiths and they all said one of the most difficult parts to learn is how to keep the clay on the blade. And you know some have said the folding does little more than homogenize te metal, it does help more than that. They act as weld points and a good weld is actually stronger than the parent metals.

Better to buy a chinese sword and learn with it. That way if you break it, its not a big loss. Once you learn tameshigiri with it, then buy a real japanese katana.

You can bet that this isn't a Japanese Forge simply because I don't think the Japanese would even consider using a machine to do such a spiritural thing as forge a sword. If it isn't Japanese Steel, it isn't a katana.
