Video Description:
Tutorial on how to make ringtones for your iPhone firmware 1.1.2 or newer using itunes 7.6.2 with Windows ....works for some older versions of iTunes as well...(**ALSO WORKS FOR 7.7 AND 2.0 FIRMWARE**)
This is an old trick but i have many people still asking me about it so i just decided to make a video of it....this is a method not needing a hacked iphone of anysort just using iTunes and renaming files thats all....
*Sorry so blurry*
First you will need to have downloaded and installed, iTunes and wavepad which you can get from a google search or download.com
You will need to make a "ringtones" folder in your "my music" folder or wherever your itunes folder is located....make shortcuts on your desktop of both the ringtones folder and itunes folder for quicker access...
The video is a good job of showing everything but i will break down some parts if they arent easily understood...
1. need to make sure that the box for hiding file extentions is unchecked this is needed to rename the file correctly...
2.open up itunes and wavepad
3. choose song from itunes and drag it into wavepad
4. find the points where you want to start and stop and right click to see the options trim start and trim end (takes some playing around with to get the hang of wavepad)
5. Save final tone file as mp3 128kbps to your desktop
6. Drag song from desktop into iTunes
7. Make sure your settings in iTunes (as shown me forgeting in video) are set to convert to AAC format...then go back to ringtone file in your recently added playlist and right click and convert to aac
8. Now delete the original from the desktop and open both the itunes folder and ringtones folder
9. Go into your itunes folder and find the file you just converted...mine is in the unknown artist folder so i take that file and move it to my ringtones folder..then delete the file that was in the iTunes (its very important to delete the old files b/c itunes will mix them up)
10. Now in the ringtone folder right click on the file and click rename...as you can see its a .m4a file all we need to do is change the "a" to an "r" making it an .m4r
11. After you rename it click yes for changing....then just click and drag into your itunes library and BAMMM its now in the ringtone folder
Next time you plug in your iphone you will see the ringtone in the ringtone tap..just make sure you have sync ringtones selected and they will sync to the phone....
Seems like a long process at first but once you get the hang of wavepad and itunes you will be able to do 5-10 ringtones at a time making it much easier..
