New Earthlike planet discovered Gliese 581c

For the first time in history, an Earth-like planet has been discovered orbiting a distant star.
At only one and a half times the radius of Earth, Gliese 581 C is the third and smallest planet to be discovered orbiting a Red Dwarf star located 20.5 light years away in the constellation Libra and the first one to approach the Earth's size. The planet resides in the star's "Goldilocks Zone" where liquid water --and life could occur. The team of Swiss, French and Portuguese astronomers used the European Southern Observatory's 3.6 m telescope to make this incredible discovery. See the video for more! AstroShorts.com

eventually we could get there, we just need to invent warp drive. and why would things on that planet be older than us? there's no evidence of that. i think we're probably more advanced than a lot of planets.

ya that will be sweet if we are able to get there. but it wont be anytime soon. its more than a light year away, thats how far light travels in one year. thats pretty dang far.

ok really who cares about this? sure its cool and whatever but space is kinda stupid because in our lifetime we will NEVER even make contact with this planet or even reach it so why are we wasting our time? we should first go look at moons Europa or titan, at least we can reach them in a 'short' amnt of time, given our crappy spaceship design and propulsion systems though I guess its fun to strain ourselves trying to find an answer to everything! :D

it is possible to get there. supposedly we cant travel the speed of light (3x10^8 miles per second). but we dont need to travel that fast. if we travel only a fraction of that speed we can get there within a humans life span. its not getting there thats the problem, its just getting for the research and construction of the craft. I cant wait. im only 15 and hopefully in about 20 years, we might meet ET. yay!!!

i figure they'll observe from a distance. develop more powerful space probing optical devices so that they may even be able to observe the geology and ?ecology? of the planet.
