A short film similar to "Groundhog Day", but more serious. A man is trapped in a 59 minute time loop that only he is aware of. He seems resigned to his fate, before discovering a controversial physicist who predicted the event in the news.

12:01 is one of my favorite short films of all time! It's an absolute gem.
Later made into a feature-length film of the same name by Fox Night at the Movies, the longer version lacks the charm and cohesiveness of the short film.
And of course, Groundhog Day came along later. Whether GD (another of my favorite films) was inspired by 12:01, I don't know.
If 12:01 is available on DVD, I'll buy it! A terrific short!

One of my favourite films of all time. I watched it late one night as a teenager in the early 90s by accident. The TV listing didn't have the film listed for some reason. It took me years to find it, but thanks to the IMDB and searching for Kurtwood Smith I found it. Unfortunately it cannot seem to be bought anywhere. Thanks to YouTube and other viewers this gem can watched all over. Pure class. I hated it when Groundhog Day came out as it is not a patch on 12:01pm. Thanks

i agree with the above. i don't remember where i saw this but first was drawn in by the guy from RoboCop!, and then the story. its great. i managed to have it on video for awhile but that vhs tape is long gone. and yes, groundhog day, while occasionally charming, was a disappointment after seeing how tweaked this concept can be played. i love it

Though I absolutely love this movie, I've been wondering... Myron seems to have a one hour lunch - the secretary says he has 25 minutes left when the clock reads 35. So, if his lunch starts at 12:00, how does he get to the little round concrete block where his hour starts one minute later, yet it takes him 35 minutes to get back to the office the time he runs directly there?

I acutally wrote a short fiction book for my 8th grade, Englih class writing lab project in middle school in '92!!! Still have the damn thing today. I can believe how young Kurtwood looks!!!! I also looked for this for a long time.

Beatifully made short, I first saw around 1992 it is a very though provoking story, about what you would do if you lived the same hour over and over. Thanks for posting because I never thought i would see it again. There seems to be a story here that could be made into a full lenght movie with a little more depth great all the same :)

Hi Jim, this is that short film I was talking to you about a while ago. It comes in four parts (listed alongside and easily located). Very subtle, very clever, very good, and, in light of the questions raised by the Hadron Collider, very interesting. Enjoy. Lol. Well worth 30-40 minutes of your time.

Far better and deeper than the remake with Jonathan Silverman. Kurtwood Smith gives an excellent performance.
