Monkey Maincourse

Uploaded by: jimmychimp
Video Description:
In this clip, four males emerge from the swamp.. Orion, Bonobo, Primus and last Fanana. Unseen by the camera, Bonobo stealthily grabs a juvenile vervet monkey who has strayed from its troop. Orion joins him in the tree and begs for meat whilst Primus and Fanana decide against lowering themselves to the humiliation of begging from the beta male. Alofu the current alpha has no such reservations about coming to take his dues from the feasting Bonobo.. Orion takes his leave. Set to "Big Balls" by ACDC. Due to their promiscuity, chimp testicles are very large in comparison to other apes since they require a competitive sperm count.

THAT MONKEY HACKS!
PETA should be ... ( 1 year ago by SWSimpson)
PETA should be outraged that these monkeys, who are vegetarian by nature (like Peta says Humans are also), would murder one of their own kind and eat it! This worse than those people who became cannibals just because their plane crashed on top of a mountain in Peru. lol/yikes
Thanks for your ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
Thanks for your comment. However.. these "monkeys" are apes - like us.. They regularly consume meat - monkeys being one of their main prey.. although it is a very small part of their diet, it is highly valued nutrition... These animals are capable of highly organised hunts where they catch colobus monkeys to eat them...

Would you suggest that we try and persuade lions to become herbivores? I agree that we humans have the luxury of conscious choice and as such it is no longer necessary for us to consume meat..
but it is ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
but it is undeniable that consumption of meat has been an important part of our evolution. I hardly think that we can lecture chimps on ethical treatment of animals. We should concentrate our efforts on conserving their habitat and chastising those who keep wild animals as pets for entertainment and with no intention of rehabituating them.

Jimmychimp, you are ... ( 1 year ago by Thinkingbrain)
Jimmychimp, you are ape? You sound like one. If you evolved from ape, then why not the apes, why didn't hey evolve like you did as you claim?
That is the missing link you evolutionists always stack
They did evolve.. ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
They did evolve.. from the same common ancestor. We developed larger brains and the ability to use them more comprehensively.. We are all apes.. humans, gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans. Saying why didn't the evolve like us is like saying why didn't the bottle-nosed dolphins evolve like a hump-backed whale. We each found our niche and evolved to best suit it.

Depends upon how you define intelligence... Many birds perform complex actions - and their ability to do so, we find very hard to understand.. but then so do many insects - especially ants...
What is your point exactly regarding Bonobos and birds? Are you attempting to disprove the theory of evolution? Please expand.
regards

"Bonobos are less intelligent than many birds. "
The above sentence stands. Birds have been seen to be more intelligent than bonobos.

I thought you would be more intelligent than to just repeat yourself - if you do not have an argument then refrain from making random unsubstantiated comments on my YouTube site.
How many birds can you teach to use a computer to the level that Bonobos in captivity have acheived..? As I said - there are many different ways of analysing what constitutes intelligence and you have not even told me the relevance of your comment.
"random ... ( 1 year ago by warriorprince1010)
"random unsubstantiated comments "
Now you will have to prove that my statement is unsubstanciated [correct spelling].
Birds can fashion tools and bonobos cannot. Dogs can remeber paterns and shapes, and follow commands.
Many animals can follow commands, bonobos are not unique in this.
The above statements are correct.
Don't know which ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
Don't know which dictionary you are reading - but the Oxford English dictionary seems to agree with me...
Anyway - since when did anyone reading a theory or hypothesis have to prove that a statement was unsubstantiated... surely it is your duty to substantiate a comment.
Bonobos CAN fashion ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
Bonobos CAN fashion tools as can chimpanzees (which is after all the subject of my films) as well learn to operate computers and if you are using that loosest evidence of tool-making as a demonstration of intelligence.. then you are playing out of your hand.
Are you saying dogs are not also intelligent?? Of course they are.. No-one ever said that Bonobos are unique in their ability to remember stuff.
You still haven't made a point as far as I am aware.. But please, keep trying.

hmmm, you have quite the extensive chimpanzee collection here on youtube, so i only see fit to ask you if it would be possible for you to find a video that demonstrates the enormous physical strength of these animals. this topic has been in discussion and speculation for many years. but it's been almost impossible to find a demonstration of their superhuman strength, whether in the wild or captivity. lifting a large rock, or snapping a thick branch in half with ease while making a nest.
Hi.. thanks for ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
Hi.. thanks for your comment... and yes - I have around 60 hours of footage of these wonderful creatures.. Off the top of my head, I do have footage of an ex-alpha Fanana snapping a branch with ease to make a day nest - Let me try and pull one out for you... might not be for a few weeks as I am on another assignment and all my footage is on hard drives elsewhere...
As I understand it, ... ( 1 year ago by jimmychimp)
As I understand it, chimps in captivity have been given tests of strength pulling a spring loaded contraption.. and the results have shown that an average adult male chimp can pull five times the weight of an average male human, though I have no evidence of this personally. But you only have to look at the muscular structure and density of the shoulders of a wild chimp. From birth they are hanging onto their mothers bellies and at 4 months can support their own weight by one arm!!!

wasnt there a situation where a bonobo was taught to communicate with symbols, he held up a symbol at one point which meant 'may i have some grapes' and others too, they taught 8 in total and they learned rather fast. I also see monkeys being used for handicaped people, ie they open bottles and play VCRs, was about 3 years ago though.
New study 2 weeks ... ( 10 months ago by crisology)
New study 2 weeks ago- Chimps climbing down, using tools for tough roots that would require strong teeth. These roots are still eaten by human tribes. Chimps chose the roots instead of abundance of food in trees= more evidence ancestors may have left trees to forage before hunting & molars evolved sharper after fire because they were needed for such roots, not uncooked meat.
