Google ''Andrew Sullivan Chomsky'' and klick on the first link (a link to Chomskys website). After you've read that you'll loose ALL your respect for Andrew Sullivan. He truly is a liar.
I certainly don't agree with Chomsky's opinions, but I certainly don't think it's honest lying about what other people think, while they have no oppurtunity in answering. That's what Sullivan did.
Read it for yourself and you'll see.
Surely some liberals embrace socialism, but it isn't communism. And nevertheless, those are loaded terms.
As far as free markets go, I don't see anyone advocating we get rid of them. Free markets are essentially economic democracies. Of course, the government DOES have to set the framework to ensure they aren't economic anarchies.
Conservatism is dead wrong and has always been dead wrong and that's why America's heyday was from 1930-1970 when conservatism wasn't relevant and why everything is falling appart now. Conservatism means anti-intelectualism, irrationality and foreign policy based on those two principles. And, as everybody now knows, a fundamentally flawed economic philosophy.
