George Benson, in the liner notes of the Ultimate Wes Montgomery album, wrote, "Wes had a corn on his thumb, which gave his sound that point. He would get one sound for the soft parts, and then that point by using the corn. That's why no one will ever match Wes. And his thumb was double-jointed. He could bend it all the way back to touch his wrist, which he would do to shock people."
Sounds like yr a little too caught up in technique to hear the music. I don't even know who West Montgomery is but his style is definitely outdated. It's 2008 - nobody plays like that anymore. Boring.
Now quit yr poutin' and go check out my band's new video, "It Ain't Easy" (at my youtube page) for a lesson on how to properly play jazz on guitar.
Git goin'.
Saying that you do not know Wes Mongomery and that his(her, your) style seems to you to be boring you me demonstrate the little that you know of music. What this man contributed to the world of the jazz and of the guitar does not have precedents so make it look at you, boy. Finally, do the favor of not buying the shit that you touch with what the big teachers of the jazz touch.
I play self this gorgeous piece, and when
Wes play it, this is sugar for my ears.
An undeadly evergreen!
@ IIm 1982: This man was a big contribute to Jazz music, I acknowledge what you say!
(Sorry for my english, I'm italian)
If you are like me and you like metal and Jazz go check out Alex Skolnick. He turns metal songs into Jazz standards. Totally awesome!
Desperately trying to get people to give your videos hits by making ridiculous comments about the genius that is Wes - hmmm....I wonder why... is it because they've only been checked out by very few people and the ratings are crap - nuff said (and by the way I haven't done you a favour and actually watched the videos).
Wes is a wonderful reminder to me that making meaningful music has more to do with who you are as a human being than it does anything else.
