Video Description:
The US state of Kentucky has a large white working class population similar to the state of West Virginia, which Hilary Clinton won overwhelmingly last week.
In both states there's polling evidence to suggest that at least some voters are not prepared to vote for a black candidate.
Al Jazeera's Mike Kirsch travelled to rural Kentucky where he found that for some old prejudices die hard.

Since you asserted it, could you prove that "92% of blacks are voting for Obama simply because he's black"? At least according to exit polls, voters in general who stated that race was an important factor went consistently for Clinton by strong margins.

Yes, this is true, but what is your point? The American slave trade was an English slave trade for over 100 years. Those people speaking are English descendents. England was not a colony - America was. British N.America had the environmental conditions to facilitate an economic institution of slavery - your tiny island did not. The first legislated racism was in British N.America (VA). I don't see why so many Europeans ignore the fact that race in America is complicated by its role as a colony.

I was pointing out that Britain hasn't and still doesn't have anywhere near the same proportion of black (or brown or yellow) people as America does, meaning there's a smaller chance of one getting elected. And that's before you factor in the difference in demographics between parliamentary constituencies - especially in rural areas.

I do think i have to agree with you. I'm jsut starting to look up this presidential election info online but already I think it's true that Obama will be getting a lot of votes from the African American race in the U.S.A. simply because he's black. I thik if Obama were president, he would give even more freedom to different races in more than just the United States but worldwide aswell.
