Even though i dont like Gervais, Gary Shandling is a total prick! At least Gervais explains his comedy and what he finds funny. Shandling is an egotistical bastard who treats interviewers like shit unless they dont kiss his arse.

What are you people talking about, Shandling is hilarious. The reason why this interview is so awkward is because Gervais is no match for Shandling's quick-wittedness.
It's not like Gary didn't make every effort to make the interview funny. Ricky was simply too star-struck and too slow, and so couldn't feed off of Shandling's creativity.

this is the best interview I have ever seen. the funniest people alive. What Shandling did in Sat night live in the early days is similar to what Gervais is doing now. The humour is so dark!! I could watch this all day!!

people missed the point entirely. shandling is FAR from ego-filled, and he was TRYING to show gervais that he is full of ego himself, and gervais absolutely couldnt see it. and gervais insulted him a few times...shandling is intentionally being a bit cheeky with gervais cos gervais is so 'on' and shandling is attempting to highlight this. and gervais wants to know 'how good am i???' constantly, as if the interview is about him.

Shandler is a master of creating these very awkward and (perhaps) truth-telling moments. it's tough to understand why he couldn't just be a nice guy and chat with Gervais, but he seems to want to deconstruct everyone around him, including himself. watch his interviews with Sharon Stone and Alec Baldwin on the DVDs of his show. Very difficult to watch.I also think he is being 'on' in his own way.

So when Shandling didn't offer Gervais coffee he was trying to enlighten him about his ego? Watch Gervais' interview with Larry David to see an example of two 'on' comedians who can both be funny without it being awkward. The difference is that they work OFF of each other instead of at the expence of the other.

Shandling may have been trying to make a point about Gervais' ego, or perhaps trying to point out that Gervais was trying to be 'on' rather than just natural. BUT....They are both comedians and we only want to watch them when they are 'on'! And what mega celebrity doesn't have an ego anyway?! Shandling is a dick. Gervais tried to save the interview over and over again.
