"When I left the Trio, Stewart says "I wanted to form another trio, with Henry Diltz and a girl, though we couldn't find the right one.I discovered Buffy Ford in Fairfax, California, where she was working in little theater - she'd been on the road as a member of The Young Americans. But by that time, Henry was busy with his career as a photographer,and it didn't sound like Buffy and I need a third voice."...

I met Henry back in 1961 and we became fast friends immediately; we sat on the beach in Hawaii and played banjo and guitar with Chip Douglas and we have stayed in touch ever since. He wasn't talking pictures then.Then he got a camera and he started taking pictures of fire hydrants but they were the greatest fire hydrants I had ever seen...

This video is delightful! I've admired John as long as I can remember, and learned to play the 5-string banjo listening to him play with the KT. I know how much Buffy and his children must miss him. He will always be a treasure to all of us.

If it needs to be said, country rock in L.A. didn't begin and end with Gram Parsons. Chris Darrow, the fiddle player in this clip, was a member of the Corvettes, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kaleidoscope and Linda Ronstadt's band, among others.
