Neither the Vocoder nor the Moog Synthesizer were invented by Kraftwerk.
If anything Kraftwerk invented the first playable electronic drum kit.

What idiot has "thumbs downed" aceyage's comment?
Their first part is 100% correct, the second almost certainly so.
"From station to station back to Dusseldorf City. Meet Iggy Pop and David Bowie" I love them two lines, whoever said German's have no sense of homour? Still makes me smile 20 years after I first heard it.

I `see` here a fragrance of (kind of) neo-constructivism slightly in the spirit of "Bauhaus", which was one of the most interesting art-phenomena of the 20th century and is still somehow ahead of it`s time. Of the outmost importance are the electric drums, invented and developed by Karl Bartos, in the music of Kraftwerk. The do not serve solely as rhythm-beats but also AS sounds saving thus time, crystallizing seamless purity and bringing forth the essential theme economically in the music.

Kraftwerk definitely invented the first electronic drumkit. They have worked on serveral sequencing / synchronizing devices especially in co-operation with Doepfer company like the "MAQ 16/3" or "Schaltwerk". Florian Schneider is the co-inventor of the "Robovox" - realtime-speech-generator..etc.
But more important than their hardware inventions are Kraftwerk`s musical innovations.

this is the shit, i didnt know this is where electronica in america got its ideas from , afrikka bambataa to L.A. Dream Team, nice shit
Of course question ... ( 4 days ago by kosalet)
Of course question IS about the MUSIC. Hardwares are servants. Kraftwerk`s attitude towards USE of electronic instruments SEEMS to be more like that of classical musicians relations with their acoustic instruments.

Yeah, it's pretty accurate. The very first drum machine from 1960 or so had little buttons that you could tap on to trigger the sounds, but Kraftwerk came up with the way to allow someone to play with sticks like a real drum kit. The sticks looked like short radio antennas, and they would hit a metal plate and complete a circuit, triggering the sound.
Dude, I never noticed that line! I find it interesting hearing musicians likes, somebody told me Miles Davis was big into Funhouse.

Yep, he sure did. I remember him talking about "Trans Europe Express" in a BBC documentary about the birth of hip hop.
I also remember him saying it was a great track to play when djing as at 14 minmutes long (well it's about 7 but segues into the next track) it gives you plenty of time for a toilet break...

Oh, I`m sorry! One correction; I had a right person but a wrong name in my mind. Electric drum-systems MAIN developer`s name was WOLFGANG FLUR. I accidentally mixed only the NAME with Karl Bartos but NOT the man himself.
