No don't that Okawa ... ( 3 weeks ago by wontonga)
No don't that Okawa is a great Judoka, but in this case he has ALL the advantage. His Dojo, his game (Judo) If the Jujitsu player could use strikes then it might be another story.
It fact in every case that I know of and have seen, it is so.
But no don't Okawa is a pleasure to watch.
Pure and simple great Judo.
Okawa actualy says ... ( 3 weeks ago by wontonga)
Okawa actualy says it himself. He wants to"fight Judo strategy, not Jujitsu ground technues"

Not really though, ... ( 2 weeks ago by jonnykill)
Not really though, he got caught in a triagle choke. In the street or MMA match he would have lost.
impossible to ... ( 2 weeks ago by AFGalwayz)
impossible to determine....the guy in white took him down first....since he has much more weight, who is to say he would not have gone to proceed and starting pounding away with punches to the face?? or even eye gouge the dude. Also, the guy in white took him down more often. as in throws. if he landed like that on concrete, he woulda gotten hurt really bad. there are too many variables

Not entirely nub ... ( 2 weeks ago by jonnykill)
Not entirely nub and not entirely impossible to predict the American would have won the bout. Even IF the guy on top s throws a few blows while in a triangle choke holdd is in placer dosen't mean that he could have gotten out of it. This "fight" was a controled match with rules. MMA is best at "basically , no rules".
This was not a ... ( 2 weeks ago by denniswilder)
This was not a question who'd win really. If you take notice of the Judoka, you see he's upright, moving calmly without making any quick movement. He follows the American guy around and isn't really doing much. I'm not much of a judo fighter in the ring, but I'd say that judoka could've taken the American down every time he wanted. Also illustrated by the moments he places his throws. They just come at the moment he most likes to put it in. 22 years of judo cannot be matched by Juijitsu .
Is he using hockey ... ( 2 weeks ago by GuitarMan0785)
Is he using hockey tape to tape his parts? Just wondering because I'm gonna try that :)
I think its regular ... ( 2 weeks ago by denniswilder)
I think its regular sports tape. You use it to prevent damage to the tips of your fingers, as a judo gi is rather frictive (sp?). You can open or damage fingers and skin when you pull or are pulled free while keeping a tight grip. Some judokas even tape 2 fingers together.
the american kinda ... ( 2 weeks ago by mybigdogiscool)
the american kinda sucks he stood no chance i think his partner would have beat him
The Jap took it ... ( 1 week ago by Kimurra22)
The Jap took it easy on him, he could of badly hurt him if he wished. I am a brown belt in judo and a Blue belt in BJJ and its amazing how much a really hard throw hurts, most BJJ guys are not used to being thrown and do not know how to take hard throws because they do not practice it much. BJJ does have GREAT ground and submission techniques.

I was just thinking that. A lot of Fedor Emelianenko's skill comes from Judo. And he is considered the no1 best MMAist in the world atm...
Huh? What match ... ( 1 week ago by popasmuerf)
Huh? What match where you watching? You must be trolling. He was no where near being caught in sankaku jime (triangle choke). In the "street" I would put my money on Okawa.
I think this guy ... ( 1 week ago by onebigkiss)
I think this guy Omar works for the publisher. LOL Anways gi no gi Judo Juijitsu same argument over and over. People who reallly know martial arts know what works and what doesnt and dont need to argue over it.
