hi, i'd like to know if i should get this phone. I'm 16, so i wouldn't have this phone for work stuff like everyone would do with a usual blackberry. i have a few questions:
1- Wi-Fi?
2- how do i check my E-mails? do i have to get something special with the contract?
3- how's the web browsing?
BTW: i have a Motorola razr v3, the usual black one. it's good but should i stick to that? since i feel that the reception on that is bad.

Yes the blackberry is a 'smart' phone which means you are forced to purchase a data plan with the blackberry. With taxes and such you won't find hardly any data plans under $100/month. I just bought one, I like it. If you're 16, don't have a job and you're paying for your plan... at the end of the year you will have paid double for a smart phone data plan. You should ask yourself if you really need email on your phone.

The cost of the phone will depend on the carrier. Could be free with a 2 year contract or be $200 with a 2 year contract. I don't know what tmobile offers. Data plans are virtually the same cost across the board. I'm fairly certain you can't find any smartphones that will be much less than $100/month with the cheapest plan. If someone knows of one they should correct me but I was having a discussion about smart phones with someone a month ago and that's what they said.

That's not true. I have a Data Plan with sprint with my BB Pearl 8130, Its part of their everything plan. I get 450 mins (since I rarely use minutes) but EVERYTHING ELSE (including Sprint TV) is FREE and UNLIMITED.. It's $69.99 a month, but since I've been a customer over 4 years I get discounts.. but it's still under $100!

the pearl is a great phone, the only problem is that the screen gets unresponsive and the ball can get stuck. it's very customizable which is great. he failed to mention that you can easily change the font.

Regardless if you're getting a discount for being there for 4 years that's not really an accurate assessment as we're not all going to sign up for 4 years of Sprint service to receive a discount on a phone. You forgot to put in the $10 or $15 dollars in taxes which is really making it at more like $85/month and then if you take away your 4 year discount you're going to be between $90 and $100 again.

No my discounts are off of the $69.99, after taxes I don't even pay $70.... But for ANYONE it's only the $69.99... and my discount is for being WITH them ALREADY for over 4 years. Might want to read a message before you bash a person. ;)Oh yeah and that plan does include blackberry plans...no extra fees
