actually he never really died cause he was burry'd but later was seen in books walkin around after the events of this film, he was taken from the planet, healed, hides alot, is seen one of the books where he heals the universe by havin the cure to stop a terrist group, also seen in another with picard,try'd to get out of borg homeworld

so am i the only one who likes kirk's death scene? i mean, shouldn't we be glad he did something honorable to sacrifice himself to save millions of people, when he could have easily said no and spent his life in the nexus? i mean, i think it was a great way to see him off! i wouldn't want the first ending changed for anything.

I think this was fantastic compared with the tripe they put in the movie. I actually prefer it with no score. It is realistic and poignant. My objection to both endings, however, is that Kirk ought to have died alone as he predicted in Star Trek V.

Gimme some feedback if you agree with these points.
Kirk would not lose a fight to SORAN of all people! And Picard wouldn't shoot him without at least a warning.
In the real ending Kirk won all hand to hands. END OF STORY.

having been a big fan of star trek since i was 5, back in 1970, i thought that killing off captain kirk like this was A COMPLETE PILE OF SHIT!!! the only way for kirk to go was like a true captain... down with his ship! ...in a blaze of glory at the helm of the enterprise after ensuring that the rest of the crew had all safely abandoned ship! i've said it once before, but it bares repeating...killing off captain kirk like this was a COMPLETE PILE OF SHIT!!!

I can see why this ending was booded by the test audiance I hate this ending of kirk being shot in the back. being shot in the back and killed by a coward who doesn't have guts to face him..is not the way to go..this ending sucks.

ive never agreed with the killing of capt Kirk. it was such a stupid idea. after all his heroics he dies on some poxy bridge in the middle of nowhere. pointless.
