Nothing is wrong with abstaining from sex if it is a personal choice.
It's wrong to teach abstinence only to people and not teach about using contraceptives if they choose not to wait.
It's also wrong to say that you should judge one's character by someone's sex life.

People today get on my nerves. They have to be handled with a fine tooth comb about everything. It doesn't even matter about being worth the waith. God said, no sex before marriage. That's all that matters. He's the one that has the final say so. You might want to try and make HIM happy. You don't need a book, other than the Bible, to tell you how not to have sex, just don't do it until you're married!

Not everybody follows your religion hon.
Not everybody wants to wait until marriage to have sex. And some people just get caught in the moment, and have sex anyway, even if they wear promise rings, or make an abstinence pledge. That's why people need comprehensive sex ed, not abstinence only ed.

She goes to churches a lot of the times. Sure she's trying to reach others...but that's what she chose to spread. It's Christian based though, so I'm not saying in a secular sense it's okay to only teach abstinence. I'm just asking why do people have such a problem with those who are trying to be abstinent?

Sexual purity is not about religion, promise rings, or an abstinence pledge. It is about a desire to please God by obeying His command to be sexually pure before marriage because you have an intimate relationship with Him. which is what it means to be a Christian. You said that it is wrong to only teach abstinence and not sex ed, quite the contrary. As a Christian, it would be wrong to teach sex ed/safe sex practices because it would be a complete contradiction to what God stands for.

That's like you talking to your kids about the dangers of doing drugs and telling them to "just say no," but then turn around and hand them a blunt and tell them to smoke it. Major Contradiction. However, God has given us all free will to decide whether or not we will accept Him and follow Him, or if we will live our own way. That being said, if you so choose to engage in premarital sex, then it is your responsibility to find information outside of the church that will teach you about safe sex.

I'm glad that's working for you hon, but unfortunately it's not working for the majority of "churched" youth out there. All her ministry is doing is teaching the Word to help others add WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE to their faith. (2 Pet 1:4-6)
Jews had the Word of God & commandments, YET Jesus "taught daily" in and out of the synagogues (Luke 21:37). The apostles were also commissioned to teach, even under the NEW Covenant of Grace.. in addition to their "Bible"...with longsuffering (2 Timothy 4:2).

Destiniq, the comment you wrote to me doesn't even make since. Just because you write down some scriptures doesn't mean that you are using them in the right way. Christians today aren't content with just obeying God, they have to fix things up with secular overtones (music and language) so they won't feel left out of the world that they are supposed to be in but not of. Sanctify yourselves and BE holy!
