It was fucking vile. The festival was born out of the punk era and it couldn't have been any further from that attitude

It was nothing to do with the Police (I checked) - it was the organiser's policy, solely to ramp up the value of the concessions sold by their agents, Central Catering Services Ltd. It's on their website. Tarnished my memories of 30 years ago - poor kids can't do anything without commercial exploitation nowadays.

A friend of mine took her children with her, And she had took along some food , But even that got taken away as she found out that there was fencing around the festival site,So the whole day she had to feed her children the food that was being sold at this FREE festival, The idea of a FREE festival is that, and not to be pressganged into buying refreshments from some greasy stall.
Nothing was mentioned about the festival being fenced off on the LMHR web site.

I too was disgusted at the commercialism, but I took food and was allowed to take it in. The site did mention no cans or glass bottles. You could take beer in a plastic bottle I worked out, but i didn't do it in the end.

I have no idea why food was taken away from your friend cause that didn't happen to anyone else. Seems a bit weird to me.
and it was clearly stated on the website that drinks in glass bottles will be taken away, everything in plastic bottles could be kept so it's not that hard to prepare correctly if you're set on not spending a single cent
