The United Nations says in recent weeks thousands of people have fled renewed fighting in the capital Mogadishu.
Aljazeera's Mohammed Adow is one of the few journalists to witness first hand what's going on in Mogadishu. And a warning, his report begins with graphic images.

I understand that some of these people come to your country and abuse your hospitality, but just because you haven't met a Somali that you found agreeable, doesn't mean that good Somalis are not out there. A stereotype of Canadians is that all of them dress like Mounties, but that doesn't mean it's true.
Hypothetically, if you were to shake hands with the millions of the Somalis of the world and engage them in conversation, I highly doubt you will be able to call all of them "thugs and idiots".
