Do some research all rear engined Porsche's engine was based on the VW Beetle, it was modfied from time to time, but still the same engine.
Many cars are alike but differently marketed, like the Lexus ES350 is nothing more than a fenced up version of a V6 camry, only difference is people are suckered in to pay twice the amount for essentaially the same car. Bentley and Rolls Royce have been using components like engine, transmissions, suspension from the likes of GM,Citroen etc, now BMW and VW.

ummm... lexus ES350 starts at $34,120, camry XLE starts at $30,704, essentially the same car yes, but $3,416 more for the lexus, not 34 grand more.
people aren't "suckered into it" they want the lexus for the status quo, same reason why anyone would pay over 60 grand for a porsche when there are a lot of cheaper cars that are faster, nicer inside, AND more reliable.

This is definitely the best commercial I've ever seen. The Porsche 911 Carrera is a beautiful car. I'm glad my unlce bought one, hes going to teach me how to drive stick in his 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera. I cant wait!!!!!
