Such brilliance!!! The possibilities in which one can indulge if he rids his soul of mediocrity are endless. From Beethoven's heart to the tip of Kleiber's baton...BRILLIANT.

2:51! That is my favorite part in this song! Oh, my god. I can't believe how epic this song is. To me this song is harsher, angrier and heavier than any metal (or whatever musical genre) song ever.

Hi, Hellodentist. I know what you mean. I dont know if you have heard Beethovens string quartets. In them 'especially' i can hear Beethovens hardrock sometimes, and other times it is jazz (that C quartet) in the bass... Other times my favourite is 3d symphony last mov. It brings tears to my eyes. So heavy. I allways liked this one also.

Ludwigna78: I I now have DVDs of both of Carlos' NeuJahrsKonzerten, his Beethoven 4 and 7 with the Concertgebouw, his 1979 Rosenkavalier (1979), and CDs of his Beethoven 6 and Schubert 3 and 8. (This Coriolan Overture and his rehearsals and actual performance of Der Freischutz Overture [both on YouTube] are revealing). I've been reading widely about him and studying his conducting techniques and podium manner and believe more than ever that the man was a genius and a truly great conductor.

A powerful dynamic performance! Some here have complained it was too fast, but that was his part of his style...very driven but always musical.
His father, Erich, was a great Beethoven conductor as well...also conducted the premier of Wozzeck after 137 rehearsals!! If you don't know Erich Kleiber's Beethoven, look for his recordings!
