This is just me ranting on the Asus Eee PC using the in-built webcam, recorded in Windows Movie Maker on Windows XP.
This was recorded at night, so the frame-rame will be lower. I was also rather tired.
When I can, I will re-record this, but during the day.

aMSN for linux is awesome and is in the debian repositories as is Pidgin. Both do webcam and voice. I'd give Ubuntu / KUbuntu a go on it. I've moved away from Windows on my desktops as it's too slow but have a long standing windows based server. EEE PCs are great!!

Hi. I've found the 7" screen to be reasonable, but I would rather have liked to see Asus make a Standard screen (NON-wide-screen), making the resolution 800x600 (as I didn't like the 800 x *480*).

what resolution is the capture? seem to be almost 800x600. Asus give the webcam as a 300k (640x480).

Hi, I don't have the Eee PC anymore, but from memory, I captured in Windows Movie Maker at 320x240 resolution.

The webcam driver for Windows XP should be on the disc that came with the Eee PC. You'll have to look for it.

Hi, I installed windows xp on my eee.
And the video mode was gone. I can only capture pictures using the cam, but the option for capturing video was gone. Is there any way to recover it?

I'm not sure. I don't have the Eee PC anymore so you'll have to do your own research. Just make sure the drivers (from the included CD) work ok. Try using Windows Movie Maker if you want to capture video.
From memory, I think that's what I did. That's all I can suggest.

in my opinion i dont reckon theres any point in getting the windows xp version. But that is my opinion you'll probably feel different but i just feel this is more the kind of the linux version laptop
