xVin89x - Lets make something clear, in 2002Everyone supported going into Afghanistan after 911, not Iraq. At that point Iraq was not on anyones minds until we were being told that they have WMDs until we were blue in the face. Now, we have invested so much into Iraq and not Afghanistan. The fighting and funding should be into Afghinstan and not in Iraq...and to quote "Rome wasnt built in a day" what the hell does that have to do with rebuilding a country we shouldnt be in? USA is not Rome!

Look at todays headlines, we just extended the tour of duty for 1250 Marines of the 2nd Battalion 7th Marines and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. As a former Marine and vet of Aghanistan I can tell you that we have not won in Afghanistan the commanders on the ground are not saying that either so where do you get your sources from??? There has been more U.S. combat deaths in Afghan than in Iraq since May, fact. So, how can you say we won?

Two things. One, driving them into a safe haven temporarly is not winning. They jump back and forth from Afghan and Pakistan. Two, obviously when more US troops are being killed in Afghan then in Iraq doesnt that tell you anything? US troops are being killed in Afghan, not Pakistan. So, with that said, you can ask yourself are we even doing a good job at driving them into other places? No, we need more funding and more troops in Afghan so they eliminate the threat not just shift the threat.

thats true.. but look at this way.. where have we put more effort iraq or afghanistan, iraq of course. look at the results, all local terrorists groups have diminished, militias are being destroyed, sadam and his regime have long been erased, and we have set it up as a major battleground against al-qaida, whose enlistment numbers are down dramtically throughout the world. we could have went anywhere in the middle east and al-qaida would have came to fight.

but ya we need to shift more effort towards afghanistan to seal the deal i agree on that.. but not everything in iraq was bad for the saftey of this country. alot of american men and woman died fighting in iraq.. we should honor them and finish the deal over there too.
