Around here that BA in criminal Justice won't do you any good if you haven't went through a State approved Academy, My Lt. is about to go back for his masters and he hasn't moved up any faster than the GED/Highschool Dip. Guys.

It really just depends on the department you work for, some only require a high school diploma or GED and a basic peace officer course, while others require a 4-year degree and police academy training, it just depends on the department at which you apply, i would check the individual requirements of the organization at which you are looking to apply.

Here's a scenario: You are at a bar, you pick a fight w/ the bouncer. The bouncer gains the upper hand and is on top of landing repeated blows to your cranium with his ulnae(wrise bones). You say "Im an off duty " What is the problem here? Either you are lying because your conduct is unbecoming of an officer & the beating escalates or you are telling the truth and your conduct is truly unbecoming of an officer & the bouncer turns it up two notches. Yeah, Captain, read that at the next trainee mission. People have had very bad experiences with very bad cops. Either you are a good cop or you will meet the worst kind of people in the worst kind of ways. You will not be given a free pass with the victims of dirty cops but will be the target of their rage if the situation calls for it. I do not respect bad authority. This guy was lucky he did not say "Im CHP" otherwise I might have paralyzed him. A badge is a badge no matter what though. Yeah!

To tell you. Some of the State Police Training is even longer and harder then the US Marine Corps Training. Crazy right? Plus, those hats are also used for Troopers.
