Joan Baez - Sagt Mir Wo Die Blumen Sind
(German Version of "Where have all the flowers gone")
[Album: Farewell Angelina 1965 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farewell_Angelina
Lyrics:

Sholokhov was ... ( 3 weeks ago by marakas0)
Sholokhov was accused, by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn among others, of plagiarizing And Quiet Flows the Don. The evidence was largely circumstantial: Sholokhov's age at the time of its composition and, in particular, the gulf in quality between his masterpiece and his other works. To complicate matters, Sholokhov could produce no rough drafts of Don, claiming that they had been destroyed by the Germans during WW2.

This heart aching song, breathtakingly sung by Joan, needs a new verse these awful days - "where have all the singers gone...".
Voices against injustice and violence, once centre stage, now quiet.
BobDylan's Blowin' In The Wind, BuffySt.Marie and her Universal Soldier, TomPaxton's Road From Srebrenice, CatStevens on the Peace Train, EricBogle's Waltzin' Matilda and The Green Fields Of France... Sag mir wo die Sangern sind, Where have all the singers gone... gone to Pop Idol every one?
