it was probably "product placing", (advertising in a film) which helps the filmmaker finance his film. Won Kar Wai was working with very little money, so I don't blame him
I love this film, and whatever got it made is fine with me.
I dislike most soft drinks- specially coke, and I know they do wreck Third World economies, but at least there are no Uzi, Glock, or Blackwater product placements in this film... ;]
Although I rarely drink sodas, I like Coke, I like it's taste above most other internationally known soda drinks, but I don't like the idea of giving them money and I don't know if they have something to do with Blackwater, this or other big wars, It wouldn't surprise me.
How much money would the Coca-Cola company would earn if all Iraqis, Afghans, Iranians started drinking Coke, as they are doing now in other countries?
Guess...
Coke IS sold in Iraq.
Anytime a drink as empty of nutrients as Coke replaces natural fruit juices from that country, it's bad for their economy, and for the health of poor people.
The US also pushes powdered milk for babies in poor countries by advertising that it's healthier, cleaner & more modern than breastfeeding. As a result, thousands of poor babies became malnourished, and don't receive the natural immunity to childhood diseases which is found in breast milk. GREED!
...and soap companies go with a book of pretty models telling poor ignorant people that if they use that soap their skin & hair will become like that of the girls in the photos,...
That's why I think we should be more responsible about what we buy, we consume and we advertise and to whom. But we should be able to know more about all that, because when we really vote is when we decide what to buy or what to consume/use.
I totally agree. In addition to knowing what we should buy, we have to stop over-consuming.
I live in Los Angeles, and people drive Hummers and huge SUVs instead of walking, even when it's only 4 or 5 blocks!
I feel those people are partly responsible for the Iraq War- whether they voted for Bush or not.
What originally brought me here was the song. When I saw the movie I didn't know it was a song of the Cranberries and that Faye Wong (the same actress) sang it. I think I like better this version, but I still don't know why.
Yeah, I like Fay's version better also, though they are both beautiful.
Wong Kar-Wai has a great ear for sound and music. I bought the soundtracks for "CHUNGKING EXPRESS" and "2046". They're hard to find in the US, but well worth it.
And whatis she screaming abot when she finds the hair in the bad?
