This clip is from a program called Vietnam: The 10,000 Day War which has aired on The History channel and elsewhere.
Today's IED were called bombs, landmines, bouncing bettys, and toe poppers back in Vietnam.
My guess is that many IED's made today are made the same way the Vietmanese made theirs: By scavaging unexploded munitions, robbing bases, and stealing weapons.
Just a little bit of History Repeating
