This was an absolute classic and a complex work of comedy. I loved The Professionals but it was ridiculous with often incomprehensible dialogue. This was also an attack on the actors and particular Martin Shaw who was apparently initially offended that he was expected to work with Lewis Collins. I always found it amusing that Keith Allan portrayed Bonehead/Bodie/Lewis Collins with a cockney accent. Lewis Collins is from Liverpool and also sounded quite posh in The Professionals.

Some trivia. Robbie Coltrane portrayed Gordon Jackson twice. In the Bullshitters and in The Young Ones as a talking broom. Lewis Collins was considered as a possible drummer in The Beatles.

Remember this being shown at the time. Great post. channel537, The Professionals wasn't ridiculous. Nor was The Sweeney. Both are classics. Look at what followed them: The Gentle Touch & Dempsey & Makepeace, for f*&ks sake! Complete crap in comparison. Anyway, what's Martin Shaw's problem? Offended that he'd have to work with Collins? He's not exactly Olivier, is he?! Lewis Collins was 'kin excellent in The Professionals!
