Facts:The mic would need to be detached from the cable by pushing the small lock button near the bottom of the mic itself. This is why it's still hanging out of his mouth after it's rammed down the poor bastard's throat , and why you hear the grunts and groans of his throat coming through the p.a. system when he's gagging.

the tightening handle moves round in the EDIT, the mic cable wrapped round the mic arm suddenly ends up under his arm, AND its a tv commercial.
