She is currently a writer, speaker, and natural health consultant.
In this video Gwen discusses anxiolytics (anti-anxiety medications). These medications are sometimes also called minor tranquilizers. These drugs include the benzodiazephines such as Valium, Xanax and Ativan. Buspar is also non-benzodiazephine anxiolytic.
These drugs are highly addictive and people experience severe withdrawal symptoms when coming off of these drugs.
Gwen specifically talks about her own Xanax addiction.
She also discusses "rebound syndrome" and "discontinuation syndrome", which are basically just withdrawal symptoms.

im steve ive been on xanax 14 yrs it helped relax me ,,,but coming off of it was hell after so long of use ..i tried cold turkey ended up in er too they gave me a shot of valium to calm me down ..now i have other issues pth levels are too high 97. parathyroid hormones ....i have a parathyroid tumor hopefully not cancerous ....i have hypercalcemia along with medical problems ...that can cause pancreatitis gallstones liver obstruction renal failure from no surgery to remove of this tumor

I took Efexor and then eventually was given Seroquel... I came off this medication after I went through a dramatic life changing realisation and I can tell you the negative effects of the drugs and coming off them was awful.
I only took these regularly for 3 years and they did nothing to help. Chemical Lobotomy.
Im glad I have discontinued use and can now think straight. It enables me to come to terms with feelings and deal with them rather than hiding behind false medicine.

...Are you serious???????? I am asking you again - are you REALLY hoping that won't get addicted. Give it two months and you'll go through hell coming off... -Maybe and hopefully(!) you've done some research by now. Also, didn't you listen to the vid?!?!? - - So, either take it EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE or go off it after a months max!!!! Then, you can go on hoping...:-) (no kidding!)

the withdraw is worse than pain pills. the anxiety is crazy bad after you stop taking them. its like you let it all build up then when you stop taking them it all comes out. the best way to deal with anxiety is to say "fuck it, im not being a pussy anymore." handle your business scared out of your mind if you have to. after a while it goes away. you just have to fight thru it.

The medication insert for Xanax and other anxiety medication will have an addiction warning in them. Just find it and have her read it for herself.

that video is incredibly informative and f... true! when i stopped xanax, my God, it was like my brain had been taken out, put back in again...i couldn't talk properly, had out of the blue anger followed by laughing fits. No, I'm not crazy...the SICK drug is. I'd suggest to ANYONE...DON'T. It's a documented fact, it's MUCH worse than Heroin...

omg that is soo tru ive been on xanax for a few years but the anxiety just gettin worse now when itake it it does nothin now but if i dont i feel even more worse. seizurse r worse havnt left the house in wks outburst n the shrink dosent say shit but lets try an aantisicotic or antidepressent. i feel misreble all the time now xanax at first year ago would make me feel much better within 15 min now nothin but constant discontent n bein misreble.

All of you, don't freak out. I quit about two months ago after about a year of taking regular doses.
The trick is simple: TAPER YOUR DOSES- LESS/NO WITHDRAWAL.
A while ago I was freaking out about quitting, cause I thought I'd be on bars the rest of my life. Quitting is NOT as hard as your mind wants you to think! Taper, that's it. By a quarter or a half a pill a weak, and you will feel completely fine, and be normal in no time- I promise.

In the case of Xanax addiction, there are just as many cases to blame the patient as to blame the doctor. If a doctor supplied misleading info and prescribed you too much drug, well that's another case. But, when people go overboard with a drug, with an abundance of information available about its addictive potential, well don't blame anyone but yourself. I know that hurts, but the truth often does. It's time for people to stop blaming everyone and take some RESPONSIBILITY.

Amazing information - especially about the fact that psychiatrists have a vested interest in keeping people on drugs because otherwise, they can't do anything else since many of them don't do much therapy these days.

thanks for your videos showcasing the antidepressants and benzodiazapines. my instincts were correct. i have successfully weaned off antidepressents, now I need to wean from the benzos. the psychiatrists put patients in a catch 22. the antidepressents are like speed and the benzos are the downers.
the drug companies are the pushers, and as mentioned the drugs dont make the patients feel better. Ive also discovered that neurotransmitter level test should be done b-4a medicine is prescribed.
