There should be a pill for greed as there is one for depression. Then likely the world's people would be able to live together free of the manipulations of their ruling classes.

I love this cartoon. The great thing is, I'm in Japan right now. Day six of 35. First flight out of Canada.
By the way, this cannot be war propaganda. The war ended in 1945 August. This cartoon was made in 1947 as the title states.

My mistake, 1943. I'm still sticking with my position that a cigar is a cigar in this case. Entertainment. A fable like Little Red Riding Hood.

So black people playing the bad guys in modern action movies is racist as well ?
It would have been fine for the spider to be any other race accept for black ?
People take political correctness way too far...

They also do this with chinese people and indians in modern american cartoons, never heard anyone complain about those.
Big nose, narrow eyes... it's just some harmless stereotyping.

Exactly, and if I were Chinese, Japanese, or Indian, I'd be pissed off too.
And, "Harmless Stereotyping"?
Harmless?
HARMLESS!!!?
There have been tons and tons of issues over a race of people being drawn stereotypically.
For example, Jynx (from Pokemon), those Japanese people in that Bugs Bunny cartoon, Mr. Popo (from Dragonball, although I didn't mind him that much). You just don't know how it feels because your.....uh....nah, I won't go there.
Asians and black ... ( 2 weeks ago by Pulzar)
Asians and black people also portray caucasians in a stereotypical way, I for one don't give a living shit.
Black people call white people crackers, the chinese world for white man literaly means "longnose". Why should I be offended by that ?
Ha, well if I were ... ( 2 weeks ago by KirbyPhelpsPK)
Ha, well if I were white, I'd be offended. My only guess for white people being fine with it, is because they've treated other races so badly for some many years, I guess it's pay back or something. I could be wrong. Still, if I were white and some black guy called me a cracker, I'd be offended. I guess that's just how I am...

pulzar:
This cartoon is racist and is 'of its time'. But, racism has not gone away its just as bad, with a subtler approach.
When you deny someone work, education or a promotion based on their colour, they can't punch you in the face. The law protects you.
'Political correctness' is to protect good ppl, against having to punch u in the face!
We need 'political correctness', because there are, still, many ppl who genuinely believe that paler skin confers an intrinsic superiority.

Well, if you're talking fields such as space exploration, nano tech, medical imaging, super computers, communications... I could go on, Japan does not hold a candle to the US. Look at the vaunted Jap. manufacturers such as Sony, Casio, Mitsubishi & etc. Most if not all of their products are now made in the happy land of China. I am curious where you came up with "More than twice as many Gadgets & Techs Patents than the second placed USA". Would like to see verifiable data on that if you could.

This producer does not have the intention of the racial discrimination.
However, as for these cartoon, it was not got the recommendation of the Education Ministry because the then Japanese Government thought about the same thing.
