autonomous... My mon has Vista, and trust me, KDE 3.5 is a LOT easier to use...
Besides, it's much more customizable, and faster. It can look better too (Mac-ish Baghira style looks so slick!!!)
I haven't tried KDE 4 yet... but it looks amazing!

not to much longer after making that comment I found out a much easier desktop package to use that was AKA "KDE" and I found it to be much easier to use. before I was using a generic desktop package on my homemade linux distribution and it made the OS look like shit and was hard to work with.

Slack is not as tough as everyone thinks... one of its advantages is that things WORK, so not much meddling is necessary. Second advantage: it's amazingly complete, it has almost everything YOU COULD need. Unlike Ubuntu, where you have add a bunch of packages (although this is SO easily done with Ubuntu). If you haven't an internet connection, Slack is awesome, since you won't be downloading many packages... All you need is a bit o reading (Slackbook, for instance.)
