Wayne Shorter, a saxophone god. I always considered him a relatively minor member of this band -- after all, Zawinul dominated on the studio recordings. But damn, I respect Wayne all the more for having the chops yet still choosing to play with a band that was obviously more relevant at the time than any run-o-the-mill prop-up-the-stiffs jazz combo.

I'm not sure if the last comment went through .. . basically what I said was that I agree with you, but that what I meant originally was that in 1978 Weather Report was an original/relevant band. Wayne chose it to stay on the avant-garde rather than some throw-back jazz combo that just recycled stuff out of the 50s and 60s.

When you look at the very same keyboard at around 8 minutes or so, it functions normally again, instead of reversed. Obviously it could be changed around just by flicking a switch. Amazing logic.
