Where was this ... ( 1 year ago by RiffinRick)
Where was this video shot? Wonderful to see all of these New England blues talents on stage at the same time. I've shared stage time with all of these guys up here at various small clubs and bigger venues and my rhythm guitar player took lessons from Ronnie for years. I see Per Hanson all the time here in the Portland area. He's got a lot more hair in this video. ;- ) Thanks for the good Ronnie licks! So clean and uncluttered, as it should be. -Riffin Rick Miller (Gate Street Blues)

Well, I agree it's best to keep a guitar solo brief. In the words of Albert King, "Make your statement". But in modern electric blues sometimes the guitar is there to support the vocals...and SOMETIMES the guitar IS the "lead vocal", and is as expressive and dynamic as the lyric well-sung. Guitar like Ronnie's isn't overdone. The guy has got a HUGE bag of chops, man. Anyways.. I just got back from 2 shows at the North Atlantic Fest with my guys. You all shoulda been there! :- )

Hear, hear! Pure tone is IT, man. I've never used a pedal in over 35 years of playing. I play my big Gibsons (L-5, ES-345, ES-5, Les Paul, ES-175) plugged straight into the amp. This past weekend at the North Atlantic festival, I daisy-chained my BF 66 Deluxe Reverb into a CS Vibrolux Reverb, and ran an outboard, closed-back 12" spkr cab across stage to move more air and spread my sound out. Nuthin' but hands, good guitars and tasty amps. :- ) Ronnie's Strat thru a Super is GREAT, huh?! Yessir!

I got to see this version of the Broadcasters a couple times, only they had Jerry Portnoy with 'em. Maybe the best band ever. And Ronnie's solos are never to long. They end when they're supposed to end.

This swings so hard you just wanna dance. Feel good blues!! Beautiful tone and subtlety from Ronnie as usual, great, soulful vocals from Darrell and superb support from Tony Z - listen to that cushion of funky organ!- and the boys. Just wonderful. Music to make you feel alive! Wish I'd been there.

MisterGnarSk8r,
I have to agree with you, the only other one I can think of was Roy Buchanan.
