although the holocaust was just as awful and disgusting as the American slave trade, the effects of it were not as detrimental. Jewish Europeans were an established society, with a well-developed identity and culture. The African slaves had their identity and culture taken away from them and left with no sense of worth but to be a slave. As Jewish Europeans have rebuilt their identity, the African-American cannot because that identity was permanently lost.

I remember when PE recorded this. It is a history lesson and extremely accurate. 427 years of slavery DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE Holocaust! The Holocaust was horrible in its own right, but it only lasted a few years. Millions of Africans suffered and died, stripped of their homeland and culture. I know poor famlies who get government funding to go to community college just because they need the help. The desire to make something out of yourself has to be there.
