It's not too often that I come up against a Floatzel. I wonder how this will go down?
*SPOILERS*
This guy got cocky with his Floatzel and tried to Bulk Up in my face 4 times. Much to his dismay, it ended up dying before it even launched a single attack! Guess I showed him. =p I was surprised to learn that even after all of that, he tried to set up on Azumarill again... with Infernape of all things! Ah well, it was a noble effort on his part, so kudos. This battle is a perfect example of how priority attacks could be your undoing if you aren't expecting them. Beware!
My team: Arcanine, Azumarill, Marowak (unseen)
Opponent's team: Floatzel, Infernape, Roserade

*sigh*...One of the most important things about stat-boosting is knowing when to stop.
Well, at least that guy knows enough to use stat-boosters on his Pokemon. He's not just someone who bashes away at whatever he sees.

I wouldn't say he got cocky. I'm pretty sure that his moveset consists of Waterfall, Ice Fang, Crunch and Bulk Up (I should know, since it's my move setup). Since he was going up against Azumarill, he figured he really needed to power up since Azumarill is deceptively strong and resilient.

Eh, I'm just going off of theory. I figure that because it's the most basic of strategies. Since Floatzel is a physical sweeper (Attack and Speed) and has low defense on both sides (Defense and Special Defense), it'd need Bulk Up to get rid of one of those flaws. Ice Fang is good since it counters its Grass weakness, and Crunch is a good overall attack (the only other option I could of for an attack instead is Brick Break). Again, that's just a theory.

No, I understand the moveset. But what I meant was that it was good to hear your opinion on why he used Bulk Up so many times. It makes more sense that way. Still, if I were him, I would have just launched an attack after the second one and let Roserade come in and finish up. Or just switch in Roserade in the first place...

He probably didn't want those Bulk Ups to go to waste and that he also he forgot (or never knew) Azumarill has Aqua Jet. I'd bet two shakes and a tail that he planned to attack Azumarill in the turn you used Aqua Jet, as he knew Floatzel outran Azumarill under normal circumstances. (Aqua Jet, of course, is not a normal circumstance.)
I don't understand why he sent out Infernape rather than Roserade and continued to use Bulk Up there, however.

Whoops, I meant Swords Dance on Infernape, not Bulk Up. (Japanese players seem to use Bulk Up more than Swords Dance on their Infernapes.)

I have to say, this is the first time in memory that I've fought an Infernape with Swords Dance. I almost always fight the Life Orb mixed sweep version.

good battle on your part, not so good strategy on your opponents part..idk why he sent out infernape even after u revealed aqua jet? even with sash on ape azumarill could still KO it before it got to attack...unless of course it had mach punch which i doubt.

Even with Mach Punch, I doubt that it would do much damage. My guess was that he was trying to use one of those attacks that gets stronger the less HP you have (like Reversal). That would justify the Bulk Up on both ends: the Attack boost to try to make it a OHKO and the Defense boosts to try to get his HP as low as possible without fainting. Overhazard, I also thought that he was going to attack on the turn that Azumarill used Aqua Jet.
