fair enough. i'm cool with your whole "good punk/bad punk" argument. i really am. but, for shits and giggles, let's take a look at some other things that are "really different"; techno, rap, ska...different isn't necessarily good. and reggae still isn't radio friendly. they hardly broke any boundaries.

i have no argument there, about the ramones being where punk was at. pistols bigger posers than the clash...eh, that's debatable. tough one. i still say the clash are bigger posers. i heard johnny rotten thought the ramones were a gang and would kick his ass. but i cannot understand for the life of me how my comment about joe strummer being a preveliged poser got negative 4! i'm being dissed for doing research and pointing it out to fans?!?! sure says something about people nowadays, huh?

I agree with you on those points man. Especially Rotten thinkin the ramones would kick his ass!ha I only think that the pistols were bigger posers due to the influence of Malcolm Mclaren and his missus telling them how to dress, what to say etc. Plus art school students screaming no future smacks a bit of being poserific?!

aw, you were SO close to persuading me. if any degree to go into, there really isn't much future for art students!! so it makes perfect sense. but yeah, mclaren searched across america and found in Richard Hell the style he wanted his pistols to be. so i'd still have to go with the clash as the poser-champs! still a tough one, though.

you're right about how things that are different aren't necessarily good. whether you like it or not, in england (im not sure about america, cos i'm not from there), the clash was a major breakthrough, for example, things like ska, and i personally think ska is ok. some great bands that play ska. the clash were one of the first bands to incorporate politics in their music, and decent political views on politics at that. hard core poseurs wouldn't be able to pull that off as well as the clash.
