Wipeout on the Sega Saturn

Video Description:
This is a little video I recorded of the first version of Wipeout, which appeared on the Sega Saturn in 1995. Wipeout supposedly has a cult following, but I don't see what's so special about it. It's quite a weird game - the craft are very difficult to handle, the music is very strange and the psychedelic graphics make you feel like you're "trippin'"! Other than that, it's a clever concept and although I've not played any of it's six successors, it looks like it's been done to death. And guess what? A PS3 version is on the way too...

wow, i havent played this game in 12 years. But when i was 8 years old i still did better than you. Seriously this video is nothing to brag about. You use your boosts at the wrong time, and you dont even pitch the nose of the craft to compensate for the hills which is why you slow down at (1:01), its not magic its just common sense. Wipeout is a awesome game, just cause you suck doesnt mean its difficult to drive the crafts. You did pretty good at Sega Rally though

Yeah.F-Zero is better than WipEout 1 but is inferior to WipEout 2097 and the next WipEouts

I personally prefer F-Zero GX to most Wipeout games.
When the first Wipeout came out I loved it though. I got it and the ATI 3D Rage card so it looked much better than it did on the PSX or Saturn. I guess it was just really cool at the time.
Exteme-G, even though it was on bikes, was another really awesome futuristic racing game.

I never knew you could pitch the nose until I played it again a few weeks ago. I'm a bit better at it now I've been playing it for a while. No need to be insulting really.

I have Wipeout 2097 for Saturn but this one looks very cool too. Amazing game. Too bad it be exclusive for Sony users. I would love play this in other consoles.

Oh man I miss this game, thanks for posting. I use to play it all time on my pc. I had the original wipeout that only worked for windows 95. The soundtrack was cool too, most of it was done by coldstorage.

WipEout 1 wasn't so great, the music and controls were pretty bad and I never understood the announcer, but WipEout 2097/XL (WipEout 2) pretty much fixed these problems.

Wipeout is a CLASSIC! Use the shoulder buttons at the last minute, make sure you roll tight in the corner hitting the apex, out...
F-Zero is a great game but it only really moved on when they released it on the GC with the help of Sega-Namco, much deeper game. They need to do something about that for the Wii. Saturn all the way

the playstation version looks just a *little* bit better than the saturn version tbh their aint much difference imho
