why dont ppl learn that you cant control your car when your front tires are locked up. Let go of the brakes, avoid any obsticles that are in your way, straighten the car and apply the brakes slowly and pump them if you dont have ABS. Also get some winter tires. Almost forgot, if you have a automatic, place the vehicle in neutral, it helps alot.
