If as much was known about bipolar in those days as it is now he might still be with us - tragic. One of the greatest musical influences of my long and varied life! (:-) you at the age of 16, Ruben, and me at 63, joined in love of Jaco's music - so really he's still with us in a way.......

Indeed, it's tragic he had to die so young...but even dying young, he influenced so many musicians and he made bass a new soloist instrument.
glad to meet you Polly! and yeah, eventhough he is dead, he used the music to express himself, so yeah, he is still with us in a way... ;)

you know.. even though i havent lived during the time of his musical reign... i feel so close to jaco pastorius... his music is so DRIVING and heart touching. i'm a bassist myself, young and willing to learn. tragic life jaco,, he's still with us, in the hearts of every bassist
