Heh, Vic is such an extremist on the bass guitar that it makes you feel all of the music at once! I'm a bass player that follows Vic's understanding but I still think (even though there are piccolo basses out there) that guitars are just different instruments that have a different sound. The cool thing about Vic is that he can make his bass sound like anything he wants!

I am sorry for that comment. It was just that I got awe-struck by Victor's bass playing technique. I genuinely love many other instruments apart from the bass. The guitar is a fantastic instrument.

I apologise for that comment I made initially. Actually, I am of the view that each and every instrument has got its place.

he is really good, on that I concur. But the guitar is only a fantastic instrument if you know how to play :D
Not necessarily. Of ... ( 6 months ago by ajittffcure)
Not necessarily. Of course, if you know to play an instrument like the guitar, it becomes really special and you can appreciate its true beauty. But a keen listener can also admire the sound played by a guitarist. Music is not just for the player but also for the listener as well. In reality, you need to become a listener first, get inspiration and then you pick up an instrument if you become truly interested to create (or re-create) sounds coming that instrument.

what I ment was that a guitar is only a beatiful instrument if someone plays it in a good way.

Agree with ajfwjfawcure here. What some people think of as general noise and sounds, many people can hear music in those sounds.
Jazz is a genre where they tend to go outside the basic scales (major and minor), and play things that sounds like they are off-key, but in reality, when you listen to the notes in context, it's really beautiful music.

Well, in my opinion, every instrument has it's place, but when you learn to incorporate techniques from one intrument, and utilize it on another instrument, you are starting to create new and original stuff, that might sound just weird there and then, but after you work with it for a while, you can use it to do something you've always done, only in a different way.

try and tap "on" the fret, like so ur finger is pushing the string on to the metal of the fret, not in the middle where it would touch the wood. Plus Vic's set up is prob really sensitive

the last bit doesn't really matter because when someone is this good anyone can respect how they play, what i like about him is he's not some 'shredder' who says 'hey look at me i can play a fast e minor pentatonic scale in a metal band' :D
