The film is the 2nd film by Irish film director David Kinsella. The sequence shown is of Oksana dreaming of being free. As an older person, who still loves, adores, to dance, en pointe, at home, at my own studio, I have to say that the comparisons to swimming intrigued me, a national champion who won her first Century Club award sitting next to Peggy Flemming who won hers for ice skating. I was forced to quit dancing, but it was in my blood, and I returned. Much much harder than rote lap swimmin Calories and cardiovascular? maybe not but combine with brain balance and strength no contest.

they respect that "fat lady" as some of u call her. and as a matter of fact she has done that. I gaurantee u that she went through the same training when she was their age. NONE of the girls want to leave. the training works and I wish I had the chance to go to a place like that!

ppl r meant to go beyond their limits. the girls LIKE this. It's like a drug! they love to overcome themselves, to accomplish something. Ballet takes a lot of strength not only physically but also emotional nerve. the teachers are telling them the truth. the world is not kind. the movie ends w/ Oksanna telling us that it was worth it.

It's amazing how these things are happening everyday and most of us don't even know it exists...Those girls are really using up years of their lives possibly doing something which isn't going to bring them anywhere and yet they do it and push through the pain...wow.

i love ballet, and my ballet teacher pushes us to the point where some of us cry because it hurts, but she is so nice!! we all love her!!!
shes an amazing young dancer herslef (not so young...30's)
and i have learned tons from her in the past 2 years shes been teaching at my studio.
pushing is good. but only to a certian extent
