If such a show went on a commercial broadcaster it'd survive one season then get dumped.
However, The Glass House probably would have lived longer were it on a commercial station as it was so controversial.
The Gruen Transfer is MUCH better off stayin on the ABC. :)

It's on a Wednesday night... after Spicks and Specks douchebag. The exact same timeslot The Glass House had - and I seem to recall that being a VERY popular show.
I admit, the ABC isn't "great" viewing, but anyone with half a brain would realise how dumbed down television is these days... ie. the commercial stations and even PayTV now.
You put a quality show like this on ratings driven media, the format (and hence quality) changes according to market demands.

And you seem to forget what the show is actually about... explaining HOW ADVERTISING WORKS!
I don't think major organisations and brands would take a great interest in a show that pretty much explains how they dupe us into buying their products.
I too would like to see TGT mainstream... but it simply wouldn't work.

My favourite channel is SBS right now, because most the shows on it capture my interest more than the other channels, doesn't mean anything, just trying to point out I'm not some kind of mainstream freak sorta thing.. This show is awesome and I don't know what happened to Newstopia, but I don't want this show to suffer the same fate basically.
This show and Newstopia have been the only shows in years.. I want more people viewing this shit! :)

A bit iffy but yeah.. I hate it when an awesome show like this or Newstopia goes unappreciated and shit like The Simpsons is still running the same episodes they've been running for years.. it'd be nice for a some kinda of channel/show which actually advertises shows on other stations.
Won't work since it'd lose viewers obviously, but it's alert people to the presence of much better programs.

Haha, ill tell you now, Channel 10 over the last 5 or so years has focused predominantly on the 12-25yo bracket during primetime at least 4 days of t he week. eg Big Brother. Three quarters of this demographic IMO wouldn't appreciate the content of the Gruen Transfer. Teens (and even young adults) these days are too affected by commercialism and are like mindless drones when it comes to television viewing. I know this because im subjected to these peole every bloody day.

Hilarious show, haven't missed an ep. yet. No way would mainstrean channels show it, and the ABC attracts the veiwers that would watch the show in the first place.
